Overview
The New York Post and its Page Six franchise are looking for a temporary, on-site Video Producer/Editor to help create and distribute short-form, shareable video content that centers on celebrity news, reality television, fashion and pop culture. This position sits inside a modern studio and requires someone who understands the pace of daily entertainment coverage and can move quickly from tip to finished clip. Candidates should have a passion for celebrity journalism, a strong editorial sense, and the ability to work collaboratively in a busy newsroom.
What the role involves
This producer will prioritize breaking items and serialized segments for production in a state-of-the-art studio. Day-to-day responsibilities include editorial decision-making about which stories to pursue, producing dozens of videos across a single shift, and coordinating with the Executive Producer on studio shoots and content strategy. Familiarity with analytics tools such as Parsley will help identify high-potential videos before they spread widely, while an editorial instinct is necessary to spot moments that will resonate with audiences.
Production and editorial tasks
Expect to pitch ideas every day, write and refine scripts for studio segments, and make fast editorial calls under pressure. The role requires hands-on work across pre-production, production and publishing: assembling scripts, overseeing shoots in the control room, editing clips, and uploading completed video to article pages and social platforms. Experience with CMS tools and platforms helps streamline publishing workflows, and a willingness to work irregular hours for major events or holiday coverage is required.
Skills and experience required
The ideal applicant will bring at least five years of production experience and a solid background in newsroom operations. Candidates must show practical knowledge of studio and control room workflows and the ability to edit video using Adobe Premiere or similar editing suites. Daily newsroom experience, particularly in a fast-paced live control room or broadcast environment, is essential to meet tight deadlines and adapt to breaking stories.
Technical familiarity and tools
Practical experience with production and publishing tools is highly valued. Familiarity with systems like Airtable, WordPress, JW Player CMS and analytics platforms such as Parsley is a plus. Producers must understand what performs on different platforms—Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and X—and be fluent in the latest digital video formats and trends. The ability to accurately fact-check and maintain editorial standards while moving quickly is critical.
Work environment and expectations
This position is fully in-office five days a week and will last approximately 4–5 months, subject to business needs. The role is a temporary engagement managed through a third-party vendor, meaning employment and payroll are handled by that vendor while supporting The New York Post. Candidates should be organized, resourceful, and able to juggle multiple priorities, keeping teams informed and maintaining clear communication throughout the workday.
Professional attributes and compensation
Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a demonstrated work ethic are expected. Producers must be comfortable writing scripts, coordinating across departments, and taking initiative in a collaborative newsroom. The position offers a base pay range of $40 – $50/hr, with compensation considering experience, skills and location. Benefits may apply if the vendor role qualifies as benefits-eligible; bonus targets and optional benefits packages are determined case-by-case.
Inclusion, accessibility and next steps
The New York Post is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers all qualified applicants without regard to protected characteristics. Candidates who need assistance during the application or interview process due to a disability can request reasonable accommodation by emailing [email protected] with “Reasonable Accommodation” as the subject and a brief description of the assistance required. Job seekers should submit a resume and cover letter; note that this assignment is temporary and facilitated through a third-party vendor.
