In the heart of Bergenfield, NJ, a story of enduring friendships and transformative experiences unfolds. Meet a distinguished alumnus of the Yeshiva of North Jersey now serving as its Executive Director. His journey is a testament to the power of lifelong friendships and the profound impact of mentors encountered along the way.
Married to Aliza and a proud father of three—Gavriel (11), Elana (9), and Daniella (7)—he balances a thriving career with a fulfilling family life. Yet, his roots trace back to the formative years spent at the Yeshiva of North Jersey where the seeds of his success were sown.
The Power of Enduring Friendships
The alumnus reflects on the class chat that has become a digital yearbook of sorts, filled with stories and memories that remind him of the joy of hanging out with friends. These friendships, forged in the halls of FYHS, have stood the test of time, proving that the bonds formed in high school can last a lifetime.
One of the most memorable experiences was the senior class trip to Colorado a journey that strengthened the camaraderie among classmates. The alumnus recalls, “We were in the Yeshiva all day, hanging out with friends. These friendships have lasted a lifetime.” This sense of community and belonging has been a cornerstone of his personal and professional growth.
The Influence of Mentors
The alumnus attributes much of his success to the influential mentors he encountered during his time at FYHS and beyond. Ramzag and Rabbi Schuman played significant roles in his life, even participating in his wedding. Their guidance and support have been instrumental in shaping his values and aspirations.
His summers at Kayitz were equally formative. Under the mentorship of Rabbi Polstein he transitioned from a camper to a counselor and eventually became the Director of Operations after AZ. These experiences instilled in him a sense of responsibility and leadership that he carries into his current role.
Lessons Learned and Advice for Current Students
The alumnus shares a profound lesson from his time at FYHS: “The friends you make in high school and beyond stay with you for the rest of your lives.” This insight underscores the importance of investing in relationships and cherishing the moments spent with friends.
His advice to current students is simple yet profound: “Soak it all up; high school is some of the best times of your life. You don’t have to worry about some of the stressful parts of your life now, so enjoy it. Anything stressful now is a small problem compared to when you are an adult. Invest in your relationships there.”
Looking back, the alumnus expresses immense gratitude for the Yeshiva of North Jersey. “I have so much hakaras hatov for the Yeshiva!” he exclaims, acknowledging the pivotal role the institution played in his journey.
