McDonald’s is bringing back Pokémon cards and tiny toys in a fresh Happy Meal series, with a global launch schedule and a mix of holographic and regular cards.

Pokémon cards and toys return to McDonald’s Happy Meals this November

After years of speculation, the fast-food giant has finally confirmed that its next McDonald’s Pokémon Happy Meal will hit restaurants this November. The promotion combines classic collectible cards with miniature plastic toys shaped like the beloved creatures, packaged inside a bright yellow box that mimics Pikachu’s head. Fans can expect two random cards per meal, a surprise that has been missing from the lineup for almost a decade, and a chance to chase a full set of fifteen distinct designs.

Inside the new Happy Meal

Card lineup

The 2026 set introduces fifteen Pokémon TCG cards, seven of which feature a holographic foil finish. Core fan favorites such as Pikachu, Eevee, and Snorlax appear alongside more niche choices like Chandelure, Zoroark, and the newly added Palafin. Each illustration is rendered by well-known artists, including Kodama, Miki Kudo, and DOM, ensuring that the reprints feel both nostalgic and fresh. Collectors will find the cards numbered 1-15, with the holographic entries clearly marked, making it easy to track progress toward a complete set.

Toy lineup

For the first time since 2018, the promotion also bundles plastic Pokémon toys. The toys are tiny replicas of the original Happy Meal boxes, each transformed into a recognizable Pokémon such as Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Umbreon, and Torchic. A pull-out keyring lets owners attach the figures to bags or belts, turning the toys into portable mascots. The packaging mirrors the larger meals, with three main box designs—Pikachu, Umbreon, and Torchic—allowing fans to chase both card and toy variants.

Global rollout timetable

The rollout follows a staggered schedule. North America gets an early start: Canada begins on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, followed by Australia on Thursday, November 5. The United States joins the line-up on Tuesday, November 10, with the promotion running until December 14. European markets such as France, Spain, and New Zealand receive the meals in November, while most remaining regions see the launch in December. Notably, Ireland and the United Kingdom will not see the promotion until February 2027, giving collectors in those countries a slightly delayed but equally exciting entry point.

Why the hype matters

McDonald’s has partnered with Pokémon since 2011, but recent campaigns have escalated into full-blown cultural events. In Japan, the 2022 release caused such a rush that some outlets had to involve police to manage crowds, and several customers bought multiple meals only to discard the food and resell the cards for profit. Learning from those incidents, the chain now offers the toys separately from the meals in many markets, reducing pressure on the restaurants while still satisfying the collectible appetite of fans. The 2026 edition therefore represents both a nostalgic callback and a more controlled approach to a proven marketing formula.
