Vivo Energy Ghana Names Christian Li as New Managing Director
In a significant leadership change, Vivo Energy Ghana has announced the appointment of Christian Li as its new Managing Director. This comes following the passing of the former MD, Jean-Michel Arlandis. Christian, a Mauritian citizen, is set to leverage his vast experience in the energy sector to steer the company towards greater success.
A Wealth of Experience in the Energy Sector
Christian Li brings nearly 30 years of expertise in general management, business development, and sales and marketing, having worked across over 20 African nations. His most recent role was as the Head of International Business for Engen, where he managed operations in various countries including DRC, Namibia, and Botswana. Before this, he served as Managing Director for Engen Namibia, where he was recognized among the top executives for three consecutive years. His extensive background also includes significant roles in South Africa, Mauritius, and the Republic of Congo, as well as a notable tenure with Chevron.
Commitment to Innovation and Excellence
Upon his appointment, Franck Konan-Yahaut, Executive Vice President of Vivo Energy for West and Central Africa, expressed confidence in Christian’s ability to contribute to the company’s growth. Franck stated, “Christian brings on board a wealth of knowledge, commitment to excellence, and continuous improvement, making him an invaluable addition to our team.” In response, Christian affirmed his dedication, stating he aims to collaborate closely with the team and industry stakeholders to drive innovation in the downstream business. “I am optimistic that we will elevate an already robust business to enviable heights,” he said.

Vivo Energy Ghana, established in 2013, distributes and markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants with a vision to become Africa’s leading energy business. The company has a fuels storage capacity of 11,000m³ and operates 232 service stations. The Shell brand has a long-standing presence in Ghana, dating back to 1928. As the company looks to the future, Christian Li’s leadership is expected to enhance its service offerings, which include not just fuels and lubricants but also convenience retail stores and innovative energy solutions aimed at sustainability.
