Top Chef season 22: A culinary journey in Canada
As an avid fan of Top Chef, I can confidently say that season 22 may be my favorite yet. This popular reality cooking competition showcases exceptional chefs from around the globe, all vying for the esteemed title of Top Chef. Set against the stunning backdrop of Canada, this season has been an exhilarating ride filled with intense challenges and culinary creativity. It’s fascinating to witness the diverse cooking styles and backgrounds of the contestants, each bringing their unique flair to the competition. If you’re a fellow Top Chef enthusiast, I’d love to hear your thoughts and predictions about who might take home the coveted title this season. Personally, I have my favorites, but I’m holding off on making any firm predictions just yet. This show continues to be one of my all-time favorites, and I often find myself imagining what it would be like to be either a judge or a contestant on such an incredible platform.
Your friends and neighbors: A comedy thriller to binge
Switching gears to the world of streaming, Your Friends and Neighbors on Apple TV is a delightful blend of comedy and thriller that has captured my attention. The series stars the talented Jon Hamm as a hedge fund executive who, after being fired, resorts to stealing from his affluent neighbors. The plot thickens as secrets unravel, leading to unexpected twists that keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Among the ensemble cast, Amanda Peet’s portrayal of Mel stands out, bringing depth and humor to the character. If you’re in the mood for something lighthearted yet engaging, this show is a must-watch. With the season already halfway through, now is the perfect time to dive in and enjoy the delightful mix of humor and suspense.
True and false magic: A transformative read
Recently, I finished reading True and False Magic by Phil Stutz and Elise Loehnen, and I’m excited to share my thoughts. This book offers valuable, practical tools for anyone looking to navigate the complexities of creativity and self-doubt. Phil Stutz, renowned for his previous work, The Tools, has a remarkable ability to guide readers through fears and obstacles that often hinder personal and professional growth. His unique approach and insightful perspective can help shift your mindset, allowing you to break free from resistance and embrace your creative endeavors. If you’re seeking a read that combines spiritual awakening with practical advice, this book is an excellent choice. You can also check out my recent podcast episode with Elise, where we discussed the book in detail.
Seeking fiction recommendations
It’s been a while since I’ve delved into fiction, and I find myself craving some new reads. I would love to hear your recommendations! I enjoy stories that are engaging but not too heavy, as I prefer to avoid anything that might keep me awake at night. Mysteries with compelling characters and a good pace are always welcome. If you have any favorites, please share them in the comments! Your insights could lead me to my next great read.
Culinary adventures: Breakfast exploration in Detroit
Every weekend, my husband Sam and I embark on a culinary quest to discover the best breakfast and brunch spots in the Detroit area. We’ve stumbled upon some hidden gems along the way, but one standout has to be Norm’s Diner located in Detroit’s West Village. This charming diner, established by the talented duo Danielle Norman and Elise Gallant, serves up food that is nothing short of spectacular. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely meal. What truly impressed us was the coffee; it was so good that we inquired about the beans and now order the same for our home. Some friends have playfully labeled us as coffee snobs, and I can’t say I entirely disagree. If you’re ever in the area, Norm’s Diner is a must-visit!
New video series: In case you were wondering
I’m thrilled to announce an exciting new venture here on Substack: a video series titled In Case You Were Wondering. This series will be completely free and is designed to address questions I often receive about my life, process, and the various transformations I’ve experienced along my journey. From career shifts to trusting your intuition, I’ll delve into topics that resonate with many. I believe this series will offer valuable insights that can assist you in navigating your own path. Some of the questions I plan to tackle include:
- How did you know it was time to pivot careers?
- What strategies do you use to overcome self-doubt and fear?
- What advice would you give to someone pursuing a creative idea?
- What do you mean when you refer to yourself as intuitive?
- Are you psychic? (No, but I’ll explain more in the video.)
- How can you differentiate between fear and intuition?
I can’t wait to share these insights with you all. If you have any questions you’d like me to address, feel free to leave them in the comments!
That’s all for this month! I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts and recommendations.
With love,
Albiona
