As the Thanksgiving season approaches, reflections on time often emerge. It feels like just yesterday that I was a child, polishing our family’s silverware while my mother prepared a feast in the kitchen. She poured her heart into every holiday meal, filling our home with delightful aromas. Seasonal decorations adorned the house, and my father would often be found in the kitchen, happily peeling potatoes with a cheerful whistle. This skill is one I wish I had inherited, although one of my sons has managed to master it.
Growing up, I have always been grateful for the love of Jesus and the warmth of a large family. Little details, such as my mother’s special recipes and the songs she sang while cooking, revealed the depth of her love for us. These moments instilled within me the importance of gratitude, as expressed in 1 Thessalonians 5:18: “In everything give thanks.” Now, as I create my own family traditions, I strive to honor my childhood while introducing new elements.
Creating with the delicate framing bundle
This week, I focused on the Delicate Framing Bundle for my Spotlight class. It may not be the first set that comes to mind for gratitude-themed projects, but its thoughtful wording resonated with me. I designed several cards that express support and convey the spirit of Thanksgiving.
Card design inspirations
The first card I crafted is intended to offer support. I used the Delicate Framing stamps with Blackberry Bliss ink to create a warm, friendly atmosphere. The card base, made from thick white cardstock, measures 8 ½” by 5 ½” and is scored at 4 ¼”, ensuring a sturdy foundation. I layered Blackberry Bliss cardstock with floral designer paper and added accents using Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels for a touch of elegance.
For the second card, I aimed for a cheerful tone while maintaining a supportive message. Using the same Delicate Framing set, I selected Granny Apple Green ink for its vibrant look. The card base was cut to 4 ¼” by 11”, scored at 5 ½”, and layered with Strawberry Slush cardstock. The addition of Whispers of Textures paper provided a playful backdrop, while die-cut elements added depth.
Embracing the power of hugs
One of my favorite greetings, “Big Hugs,” is featured in my third card. As someone who enjoys giving hugs, I believe they are a universal gesture of care and affection. This card, created with Pretty In Pink ink, incorporates layered elements that convey warmth. The use of the Delicate Framing bundle, along with patterned paper, creates a heartfelt expression that resonates with the recipient.
Final touches and gratitude
The last card I designed serves as a heartfelt expression of thanks and support. I chose Cloud Cover Stampin’ Write ink for this piece, paired with a crisp white cardstock base. Colorful designer paper enhances its visual appeal. Each element was thoughtfully placed to ensure the overall design conveys a sense of gratitude and warmth.
