Caitlin Cole's Path to Becoming a Film and Television Editor

Caitlin Cole’s journey in the world of digital art and media is a testament to passion and perseverance. From her early days creating iMovie trailers to her current pursuit of a career in film and television editing, Cole’s story is one of inspiration and dedication.

Born and raised in Cranberry Township, Cole’s fascination with media production began at a young age. She was captivated by the way video could evoke emotions and tell stories, a passion that would eventually shape her career path.

Finding the Right Path at Saint Vincent College

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2026, just as Cole graduated from North Catholic High School, significantly influenced her postsecondary education plans. Despite the uncertainties of the time, she found solace in the supportive community at Saint Vincent College.

Initially enrolling as an education major, Cole’s academic journey took a few turns before she discovered her true calling in the Digital Art and Media program. Along the way, she was inspired by professors like Dr. Thaddeus Coreno and David Safin, who encouraged her growth and challenged her to excel.

Cole’s time at Saint Vincent College was marked by valuable experiences, including an internship with the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Pittsburgh. This role allowed her to apply her skills in digital media production in a professional setting, reinforcing her interest in the field.

Showcasing Talent at the 2026 Senior Showcase

Toward the end of her undergraduate career, Cole’s hard work and dedication were on full display at the “Evolved: 2026 Senior Showcase.” This event, a collaboration between the Visual Arts and Media Design Department and the Verostko Center for the Arts, highlighted the conceptual and technical prowess of the students.

Cole’s work, themed “In the Simplicity,” reflected her ability to find beauty in life’s often overlooked details. The showcase was a culmination of her four years of study and a proud moment of reflection on her growth as an artist.

Pursuing Graduate Studies at SCAD

After graduating from Saint Vincent College, Cole set her sights on furthering her education at the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She recently completed a Master of Arts in film and television with a focus on editing, a program that covered various aspects of post-production.

During her time at SCAD, Cole had the opportunity to work on student film sets, serving as a script supervisor, editor, and colorist. These hands-on experiences allowed her to collaborate with other filmmakers and apply her knowledge in real-world scenarios.

One of Cole’s favorite experiences was enrolling in a game audio design elective, which she found to be a fun and creative way to explore sound and storytelling. This diverse range of experiences has prepared her well for her future career in editing.

With her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in hand, Cole is now focused on launching her career in editing. She is actively applying to roles in video editing and media production, refining her portfolio, and seeking opportunities that align with her skills and interests. Her journey is a testament to the power of passion, dedication, and the support of a strong community.
