When Kelsey Robinson Wiechman ’06 stepped off the field after four years at the College of Saint Benedict, the routine of practice, competition, and team camaraderie vanished. The sudden absence of a sport-centric identity left her grappling with questions about purpose, belonging, and the definition of personal success beyond the jersey.
Her subsequent plunge into the corporate world confirmed that the qualities honed on the track—discipline, resilience, and relentless drive—were assets, yet they did not automatically answer the deeper, emotional puzzles of who she was without athletics. The gap between practical skills and internal certainty sparked the idea that would later become her vocation.
From the Field to the Boardroom: Kelsey’s Turning Point
Armed with a double major in economics and Spanish Kelsey leveraged her liberal-arts education to navigate the complexities of a business environment. While the analytical rigour of economics taught her to translate big-picture visions into actionable steps, her language studies nurtured communication agility—a combination she now calls the backbone of her entrepreneurial mindset. The realization that few professionals truly understood the nuanced mix of practical and emotional hurdles faced by former athletes motivated her to fill that void.
